Formula pricing: price every party size with two numbers

With formula pricing, a booking costs a Base plus an Extra per passenger for each passenger. Two numbers price every party size, on private tours, on group tours priced by booking size and on add-ons.

How the formula works

The total is the Base plus the Extra per passenger times the number of passengers. Each passenger adds the same amount, and the whole party shares the base, so the price per person falls with every passenger who joins.

A private tour with a Base of 120 and an Extra per passenger of 40:

PassengersPer personTotal
1160160
2100200
380240
470280
564320
660360
855440
1052520

The tour editor shows the same table for your numbers as you type, under Price preview.

Why price with a formula

A fair price for every party size

The total rises by the same amount with each passenger, and the price per person falls smoothly. No party size pays a jump.

Two numbers to manage

However many tours, seasons and price lists you have, a price change is two numbers per tour, not a price for each party size.

Tiers work differently: each range of party sizes has a price of its own. The price changes in steps where one tier ends, and every tier is one more price to update.

Setting up formula pricing

  1. 1

    Open the tour's pricing

Go to Tours → Manage, open the tour and choose Private tour → Pricing.

  2. 2

    Choose the formula

    Set Pricing mode to Formula.

  3. 3

    Enter the two numbers

Enter the Base and the Extra per passenger, and check the totals under Price preview.

  4. 4

    Save the tour

    Click Save.

On a group tour, first switch on Price by booking size on Group tour → Pricing: its formula is a Base per booking plus an Extra per passenger. An add-on offers the same Formula in its Private tour pricing, under Tours → Add-ons.

Questions we get asked

Each season holds its own Base and Extra per passenger, and the tour keeps the Formula. A new season price is two numbers per tour.

With Smaller parties pay for the minimum, it pays the Base plus the Extra per passenger for the minimum number of passengers.

The formula sets no limit. A private booking stops at the Max passengers on the tour's Schedule, and a group booking at the seats left on the departure.

Yes, when you set up age groups: see child prices.

When a party size needs a price of its own, such as one total for a minibus of up to 8: choose Tiered with Per group.
