Tour variants: versions of one tour with their own prices

A variant is a version of a tour, such as Half-day and Full-day, or Standard and VIP. Customers pick one variant when they book. A tour with a single variant shows no choice.

What a variant has of its own

The whole tour shares

  • Its name, descriptions, main image and gallery
  • Public, its category and its service area
  • Fixed start times or open hours

Each variant has its own

  • Prices, for private and group bookings
  • Schedule, capacity and duration
  • Private tour, group tour or both
  • Items, add-ons and components
  • A description and photos, if you add them

Adding a variant

Open the tour under Tours → Manage and click Variants.

  2. 2

    Add the variant

Click Add variant. When you add the second one, you name both: the variant you had and the new one.

  3. 3

    Choose how groups travel

On a group tour, choose Together, in the same groups or Separately, in different groups, then click Add variant.

  4. 4

    Change what differs

The new variant starts as a copy of the first and opens on its Pricing. Change its prices, schedule or extras, then click Save.

Adding a second variant.

The default variant

Once a tour has two variants, Variants lists them. The radio button picks the Default variant: the one your booking widget opens on, and the one OTAs that need a single option are offered. Each variant's menu holds Edit variant and Delete variant.

A tour's two variants, with Standard as the default.

Group variants: together or separately

On a group tour, passengers of different variants can share departures or not:

ChoiceWhat happens
Together, in the same groupsAll variants share one departure, schedule and capacity. They differ only in price, inclusions and add-ons.
Separately, in different groupsEach variant runs its own departures, with its own schedule and capacity.

To change it later, click Change beside Group variant schedule mode. It moves future departures, so check the result on a tour with bookings.

One variant on several tours

When several tours offer the same thing, such as a boat, save its variant as a variant template and keep it the same everywhere.
