Shore excursions: plan tours for cruise ship visits

If you sell shore excursions, TourTask plans them around each cruise ship's visit. You register the ships that call at your port, and plan the excursions' groups ship by ship.

Turning cruise ships on

Go to Configuration → General and switch on Cruise ships under Enabled functionalities. The Tours → Cruise ships menu appears, and the tour editor gets a Shore excursion switch.

Registering a ship's visit

  1. 1

    Add the ship

Go to Tours → Cruise ships → Manage and click Add.

  2. 2

    Enter its visit

Enter the ship's Name, its Arrival date and Arrival time, and its Departure date and Departure time.

  3. 3

    Save it

Add an Image of the ship if you like, and click Save.

A ship's visit.

With Self-organize groups on, passengers' booking e-mails invite one of them to lead their group.

Shore excursion tours

When you create a tour for cruise passengers, switch on Shore excursion under Other settings. It can't be changed once the tour exists. Shore excursions have their own card under Tours → Manage, and are not sold as ordinary tours.

Planning a ship's groups

Tours → Cruise ships → Groups planning works like group tour planning, for one ship at a time: choose the ship, then add departures and groups, and assign guides and vehicles.

Three groups of one excursion, on a ship's visit.

The speech bubble beside a group opens its Discussion: the messages its passengers see on their own page. Your messages there carry a Staff label.

What passengers see

  • No date to pick: they choose the excursion and the number of passengers.
  • My shore excursion, once signed in: their group's passengers, its leader and its messages.
  • Booking e-mails that show the ship and its visit, where a land booking shows a lodging.

Your public shore excursions page is set up under Website integrations → Shore excursions.

Questions we get asked

Change it on the ship: its departures move by the same number of days, together with their bookings.

Yes, once its planned departures are removed.

No. They are taken to stay on board, so a missing lodging is not flagged on their bookings.
