How to add a blog to your TourTask website and write articles

A blog lets you write about your destination, your tours and your tips. Articles bring travellers to your website from search engines such as Google, and help them choose a tour. Your website has one blog, with up to 2,000 articles.

Add your blog

  1. 1

    Open Website builder → Blog

It says Your website has no blog yet.

  2. 2

    Press Add the blog

Your blog's page is added to your website, in the top menu, with an intro of its own and the list of your articles, in each of your languages.

Add page on Website builder → Pages adds it too: choose Blog and press Add page.

Write an article

  1. 1

    Press New article

On Website builder → Blog, in the Articles tab, press New article.

  2. 2

    Type its title

Write its Title in your website's default language and press Create. The article starts as a draft, and its editor opens.

  3. 3

    Fill in the Article panel

Above the article's sections, the Article panel holds its summary, photo, category, tags, date and tours: see The Article panel.

  4. 4

    Write the text

Click the text section and type. Add block adds headings, lists, text with an image, tour tiles, reviews and other sections. Write with AI works here as on any page.

  5. 5

    Press Save

A draft is not on your website: publish it when it is ready.

The Articles tab lists every article with its status, category, date and languages. Search by title and the Status and Category filters find one; click it to open it again.

The Article panel

FieldWhat it does
Title, SummaryIn the language you are editing. The title heads the article and its card; the summary shows on its card and in search results such as Google.
PhotoShown across the top of the article, on its card and when it is shared on social media. Choose it from your photo library, or upload one.
CategoryOne category, or No category. New category, at the end of the list, adds one.
TagsType a tag and press Enter. A tag your blog does not have yet is added to it. Up to 10.
DateThe day shown on the article. A draft is dated when it is first published. You can pick an earlier day, such as for an article first published elsewhere, but not a later one.
Change addressThe article's address in each language, saved at once.
Hide from search enginesAsks search engines not to list the article. Readers still find it on your blog.
Tours in this articleUp to 6 of your tours, shown under the article for readers to book, in the order you give them.

Every field but the title and the summary is the same in every language. Save saves them with the article's sections.

Publish an article

Publish, at the top right, saves the article and puts it on your blog. It needs a title, a summary and a photo in your website's default language: when one is missing, it lists what to add.

  • The first Publish dates the article today. You can change its Date to an earlier day.
  • There is no publishing at a later date: publish an article when it is ready.
  • Once an article is published, each Save shows on your website at once. It keeps its title, summary and photo: a save that would remove one is refused.
  • Unpublish makes it a draft again, off your website. It keeps its date.
  • Delete article, the bin at the top right, deletes it in every language once you confirm. Its category, tags and photo stay.

Categories and tags

A category groups the articles on one subject, such as Wildlife: an article has one at most. A tag links the articles that mention the same thing, such as Family trips: an article can have up to 10. Each category and each tag has its own page on your website, with its articles.

  • Make them as you write: New category in the Category list, or a new tag typed in Tags.
  • Or on Website builder → Blog, in the Categories and Tags tabs, with Add category and Add tag. Each row shows the name, the address and the articles.
  • Two categories, or two tags, never share a name: typing a tag's name picks that tag, and a category's window offers Use “…”.
  • Click a category to change its name and its Description, shown on its page under its name; click a tag to rename it. Language picks the language you correct.
  • In a row's menu (⋮), Move up and Move down order your categories, as your blog shows them. Tags are listed by name.
  • Delete says first what it changes: a category's articles are left without one, and a tag is removed from its articles.
  • Your blog holds up to 100 categories and 500 tags.

Languages and addresses

TourTask translates your articles, categories and tags into your website's other languages, as it does your pages, and gives each one an address in each language, made from its name: /blog/whale-season and /es/blog/temporada-de-ballenas. A category is at /blog/category/… and a tag at /blog/tag/…. An article's address does not include its category, so changing the category keeps the address.

To correct a translation, pick the language's tab at the top of the article's editor, or Language in a category's or tag's window. Change address changes an address; links to the old one stop working. Your blog's own address comes first in all of them, so changing it on Website builder → Pages changes theirs too.

Show your newest articles on a page

  1. 1

    Open the page

On Website builder → Pages, click the page, such as Home.

  2. 2

    Add the section

Press Add block and choose Latest articles.

  3. 3

    Choose its articles

In its Section settings, choose All categories or one category, and the Number of articles shown: 3, 6 or 9.

  4. 4

    Press Save

Save is at the top right.

It shows your newest published articles under the heading Latest articles, which you can rewrite. A link under the cards leads to all your articles, or to the category's page when it shows one category. While it has none to show, or your blog is off, it shows nothing on your website. Without a blog, Add block lists it greyed out.

What visitors see

PageWhat it shows
Your blogIts intro, a chip for each category, your newest article as a large card, then a card for each article with its photo, category, title, summary and date. 12 articles a page, with page numbers.
An articleIts photo across the top, its title, date, category and reading time, then your text. Under it: its tags, links to share it on Facebook, WhatsApp, X or by e-mail, its tours and three related articles.
A category or a tagIts name, a category's description, and its articles.

Beside them, or under them on a phone: a search box that finds articles as visitors type, your categories with how many articles each holds, your newest articles and three of your most-booked tours. An article's page starts with a trail: Home › your blog › its category.

Your blog in search engines

  • Your published articles and your categories are in your website's sitemap. An article's summary is its description in search results, and its photo shows when it is shared.
  • Tag pages are hidden from search engines, so they do not compete with your articles. Readers still find them on your blog.
  • Hide from search engines, in the Article panel, hides one article.

Rename, turn off or delete your blog

  • To rename it, such as Travel guide, press Edit the blog page on Website builder → Blog, then change its Menu label and the title in its header. It is still your blog.
  • Its row on Website builder → Pages has Shown in and a menu (⋮) with Change address, Move up, Move down, Turn off and Delete page.
  • Turn off takes its page, articles, categories and tags off your website, and your Latest articles sections show nothing. They stay in TourTask, and come back with Turn on.
  • Delete page deletes the blog with its categories and tags, once it holds no article: delete the articles first.
  • Your blog counts as one of your website's 40 pages of its own. Its articles, categories and tags do not.
