How to connect your own domain to your TourTask website

To show your TourTask website on your own domain, you add two DNS records where the domain is managed. You need a login there, usually where you bought the domain.

Connect your domain step by step

  1. 1

Type your domain and press Connect

Open Website → Domain, type the domain in Your domain and press Connect. With yourcompany.com, the website opens on www.yourcompany.com, and yourcompany.com leads there. To keep your current website on your domain, type a subdomain such as tours.yourcompany.com instead: only that name changes.

  2. 2

Log in where your domain's DNS is managed

Website → Domain names the place and the menu to open. For well-known providers, it adds a button such as Open GoDaddy.

  3. 3

    Delete the old records

Delete the old A, AAAA and CNAME records on www and @ (@ is yourcompany.com itself), or on your subdomain only. Website → Domain lists them under the info icon at the end of its delete step. If the page shows no delete step, there is nothing to delete.

Keep every other record, such as MX (your e-mail). Turn off domain forwarding or parking if it is on.

  4. 4

    Add the new records

Add the records the page shows: a CNAME on www and an A record on @, or one CNAME for a subdomain. Copy each Host and Value with its copy button, and leave the TTL as the TTL column says.

Check each record's full name after saving: it must contain your domain once, as in www.yourcompany.com, not twice. Some providers add your domain to the host by themselves.

  5. 5

    Press Check DNS

Press Check DNS on Website → Domain. If a record is not right yet, a message under the records says what to change. Change it, wait a few minutes and press Check DNS again.

  6. 6

    Wait for the e-mail

Once the records are right, TourTask does the rest, HTTPS included, and you can close the page. TourTask e-mails you when your domain is live.

After your domain is live

Your website then shows on your domain, and its free address leads there.

Register your domain for Apple Pay, Google Pay and Amazon Pay

If you offer them, their buttons show on your domain only once it is registered. Card payments work as usual meanwhile.

For Apple Pay and Google Pay, add your website's address, such as www.yourcompany.com, in your Stripe account under Settings → Payment method domains. For Amazon Pay, add https://www.yourcompany.com in Seller Central → Integration Central → Allowed JavaScript origins. Amazon's review can take up to 48 hours.

Questions we get asked

Yes. TourTask never takes over your domain or its e-mail: you only change DNS records where the domain is managed.

Usually minutes, at most a few hours once the records are right. A few DNS providers take up to 48 hours to publish a new record.

Your website is then shown on its free address again, and TourTask e-mails you. Add the records shown on Website → Domain again and press Check DNS. If they stay wrong for 30 days, the domain is disconnected.

Press Disconnect on Website → Domain and confirm. Your website is then shown on its free address only, and you can delete the records you added. You can connect one domain at a time, so disconnect the old one first.

No, and neither do the TourTask website and its free address. TourTask's own price is on the pricing page.

You need the Domain privilege under Website. Administrators have it, and can give it to other staff under Users → Manage.
