How to add languages and translate your texts automatically
Your site languages are the languages of your shop, booking pages and customer e-mails. TourTask translates your tours and your other texts into each of them with AI.
Add a language
- 1
Open Configuration → General
Your languages are listed under Site languages.
- 2
Click Add language
Choose the language. Customers can choose it at once.
- 3
Let TourTask translate
All your content is translated into the language in the background, so you can leave the page. Until a text is translated, customers see it in your default language.
Your default language
The first language of the list is your default. Customers whose language is unknown, or isn't one of yours, see it, and new translations are made from it.
To change it, choose another language under Default language, or drag it to the top of the list, and confirm. When the new default lacks some texts, TourTask offers to translate them into it.
What gets translated
- ✓Adding a language translates all your content into it.
- ✓Saving a tour, an add-on, your terms or another text translates it into the languages that lack it. A name only has to be written in one language.
- ✓Translation only fills in what is missing: a text that exists in a language is never replaced without asking you.
- ✓Translations use your monthly AI allowance.
Each language's status
Each language's row says how far its translation has come:
| The row says | What it means |
|---|---|
| Translating… 12 texts left | Your content is being translated into this language. |
| All content is translated | Every text exists in this language. |
| 5 texts missing | Texts from before automatic translation. Translate missing content translates them. |
| 2 texts can’t be translated automatically | Texts the AI couldn't translate: write them yourself. |
| Automatic translation is paused | A notice above the list says why, and when it continues. |
Click a language's missing texts to see which ones they are. Each has an Open link to the page where you can write it.
Translate your changes?
When you change a text that also exists in your other languages, TourTask asks whether to translate your change into them.
- Translate my changes replaces their text with a translation of yours.
- Keep the other languages as they are changes nothing, for example when you corrected one language only.
- Languages that don't have the text yet are translated either way.
If you close the question without answering, a banner above the page keeps asking for 24 hours.
Remove a language
- 1
Click the bin on its row
TourTask shows what removing the language changes.
- 2
Keep the texts written only in it
If some texts exist only in that language, click Translate these texts first, and remove the language once that has finished.
- 3
Confirm
If it was your default, the next language becomes the default. Staff who use the language for TourTask are switched to the Replacement language you choose.
Questions we get asked
Yes. Open the text's editor, choose the language's tab and change it. Automatic translation never overwrites a text that exists.
Any of the 13 languages TourTask is in: English, Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Italian, Dutch, Swedish, Catalan, Russian, Arabic, Japanese and Chinese.
It uses your monthly AI allowance. When the allowance is used up, translation waits until it renews, unless you let it use your AI credits: see AI allowance and credits.
