What is PayPal?

PayPal is one of the world's most widely used online payment platforms, accepted in over 200 markets and trusted by hundreds of millions of buyers and businesses globally. When you connect PayPal Checkout to TourTask, customers can pay for their tours and activities using their existing PayPal balance or linked bank account, as well as major credit and debit cards such as Visa, Mastercard, and American Express, often without needing a PayPal account themselves. Because PayPal is a household name with strong buyer protection, offering it at checkout can reassure international travellers and reduce friction during booking. Once PayPal confirms that a payment has gone through, TourTask automatically marks the booking as paid and sends booking confirmations to both your business and the customer.

We don't have a step-by-step guide for PayPal yet. Search PayPal's website (or online) for how to obtain the API credentials listed above, then add them in TourTask with the steps below.

Add PayPal in TourTask

  1. 1

    Open the PayPal card

Go to Configuration → Payment options and click the PayPal card under Online payments → Payment gateways. Not there? Choose Show all gateways under the cards.

  2. 2

    Choose the country and currency

Pick the Country where your PayPal account and its bank account are, and the Currency travellers pay in. Click Add. To change either later, remove PayPal with Remove and add it again.

  3. 3

    Fill in your API credentials

Under Authentication, the card has a field for each:
    Client ID
    Client secret

Each field saves when you click out of it.

  4. 4

    Activate PayPal

Click Activate once every field is filled in. The card turns Active, and travellers can pay with PayPal on your booking page. Every payment goes straight into your own PayPal account: TourTask never holds your money.
