- API credentials
- Merchant account
- API key
- API URL prefix
- HMAC key
You will connect your Adyen merchant account to TourTask: four values, one webhook and a test payment. You need a live Adyen account, not a test one, and getting it takes weeks.
Get a live Adyen account
- 1
Contact Adyen's sales team
Use Adyen's sales form and say that you sell tours. Adyen treats tour operators as a restricted business, with extra documents and a longer review.
- 2
Ask about the deposit before you sign
Adyen may hold back part of your payouts as a deposit. For tours paid months ahead, it can be large.
Copy your Adyen details
Sign in to the live Customer Area, ca-live.adyen.com, with a user that has the Merchant admin role. Keep each value at hand: you fill them all in when you add Adyen in TourTask, after the webhook.
- 1
Copy the merchant account
Under Settings → Merchant accounts, copy the merchant account’s code, not the company account’s. It goes into Merchant account in TourTask.
- 2
Copy the URL prefix
Under Developers → API URLs, copy the Prefix: the prefix only, not a whole web address. It goes into API URL prefix in TourTask.
- 3
Create an API credential
Select your company account, go to Developers → API credentials and open the Payments tab. Select Create new credential, choose Web service user, then Create credential.
- 4
Generate the API key
Under Server settings → Authentication, open the API key tab and select Generate API key. Adyen shows the key only once: copy it for API key in TourTask, then select Save changes in Adyen.
Create the webhook
Without this webhook, travellers are charged but their bookings stay unconfirmed.

Add a Standard webhook
In the live Customer Area, go to Developers → Webhooks, select Create new webhook, then Add next to Standard webhook.
- 2
Enable it for your merchant account
Under General, switch Enabled on and make sure Merchant accounts includes yours.
- 3
Enter the TourTask address
Under Server configuration, paste the TourTask address above as the URL.
- 4
Generate the HMAC key
Under Security, select the edit icon next to HMAC Key, then Generate. Adyen shows the key only once: copy it for HMAC key in TourTask.
- 5
Select Save configuration
Skip Test configuration afterwards: it fails even when the webhook is right.
Add Adyen in TourTask
- 1
Open the Adyen card
Go to Configuration → Payment options and click the Adyen card under Online payments → Payment gateways. Not there? Choose Show all gateways under the cards.
- 2
Choose the country and currency
Pick the Country where your Adyen account and its bank account are, and the Currency travellers pay in. Click Add. To change either later, remove Adyen with Remove and add it again.
- 3
Fill in your API credentials
Under Authentication, the card has a field for each:
Merchant account
API key
API URL prefix
HMAC keyEach field saves when you click out of it.
- 4
Activate Adyen
Click Activate once every field is filled in. The card turns Active, and travellers can pay with Adyen on your booking page. Every payment goes straight into your own Adyen account: TourTask never holds your money.
Test Adyen
TourTask has no test mode for Adyen, so test with a small real booking that you refund.
- 1
Pay for a booking
Book your cheapest tour on your own booking page, choose Adyen and pay with your own card. Back on your booking page, the booking confirms by itself.
- 2
Refund the payment
On the booking, choose Refund payment in the payment's actions menu, then Refund via Adyen.
- 3
Cancel the test booking
If the test payment fails
- The payment fails at once: check that all four values come from the live Customer Area. Merchant account must be the merchant account's code, not the company account's.
- You paid, but the booking is not confirmed: in the live Customer Area, check that the webhook is Enabled, includes your merchant account and has the URL exactly as above. If it does, generate a new HMAC Key on it and paste it into HMAC key in TourTask. Then select Save configuration in Adyen.
Questions we get asked
Those switched on for your merchant account in Adyen's Customer Area. TourTask does not filter them.
Usually a few days. TourTask records the refund at once, and your Adyen Customer Area shows when the money has gone back.
No. TourTask sends travellers to Adyen's own payment page, so there is nothing to set up for that.
