Sales points: record where each booking came from

Record where each booking came from with sales points

DocumentationContact

A sales point is a label that says where a booking came from, such as Phone or your kiosk at the harbour. Your sales points and your OTAs are the choices of a booking's Distribution channel.

The four default sales points

Website

Given automatically to the bookings customers make on your website or booking widget.

Sales app

Given automatically to the bookings sellers make in the TourTask Sales app.

E-mail

For the bookings your staff enter after an e-mail.

Phone

For the bookings your staff take by phone.

The defaults show a lock: they can't be renamed or removed.

Add a sales point

  1. 1

    Open Sales points

Go to Channel manager → Sales points and click Create new sales point.

  2. 2

    Name it

Enter a Name, such as Harbour kiosk, and click Create. Each name can be used once.

Rename or remove a sales point

Click one of your own sales points to open Edit sales point. Change its Name and click Save, or click Remove.

If bookings have the sales point, choose a New distribution channel for them: another sales point, or one of your OTAs under Reservation platforms. Click Remove: the bookings move to it, and the sales point is gone for good.

Set the sales point of a booking

In the booking form, choose it in Distribution channel, where your sales points are listed under Sales points and your OTAs under OTAs. A booking that came from an OTA keeps that OTA: its field is locked.

Make it a must

To have staff choose a channel on every booking they create, switch on Require distribution channel under Configuration → Bookings → Additional settings.

Where you see it

  • Bookings → View: the Dist. ch. column, the Distribution channel filter under Filters, and a Distribution channel chart when Show graphs is on.
  • The bookings export, with each booking's channel.
  • The operations calendar's export, when Show the booking channel in operations calendar exports is on (Configuration → Bookings → Additional settings).

Questions we get asked

No. It is only a label on the booking: it takes no payments and needs no device.

The four defaults show in each user's language. Your own sales points keep the name you gave them in every language.
