How to design and price tours that sell
A tour sells when travellers understand it at a glance, its price pays you after commission, and its rules are clear before they book.
Design it, price it, set its rules
Design a tour
The format, the itinerary, a title that names the place, real photos, and who the tour isn't for. See Design a tour.
Price a tour
The full cost per guest, your break-even, and one public price with the commission built in. See Price a tour.
Booking policies
Cancellation, weather, no-show and payment rules guests trust and you can afford. See Booking policies.
Before you publish a tour
Put a tour on sale once every line below is true for it:
- 1One promise only you can make
Such as a family farm, an archaeologist guide or the hour before the crowds, in the title and the first lines.
- 2The facts, in the same order everywhere
Duration, group size, language, difficulty, what's included and what's not, the meeting point.
- 3Who the tour isn't for
Fitness, ages and access, said before anyone books.
- 4Real photos, the best one first
8–12 from a real departure, none from a stock library.
- 5The full cost of each guest
Costs per departure and per guest, plus a share of your overheads.
- 6The guests each departure needs
How many before it covers its costs: your break-even.
- 7A price that pays after commission
The highest commission you accept built in, checked against 5–10 similar tours.
- 8Booking rules in writing
Cancellation, weather, minimum group, no-shows and payment, the same in your terms.
- 9One public price and one set of rules everywhere
On your website, at hotel desks, with agents and on booking sites: see Get bookings.
In TourTask
Each tour's facts, photos and prices are set once in the tour editor, and your TourTask website and booking widget show them from there. To sell at the same price on online travel agencies, choose Custom markup with a Markup of 0 on each one's page: see Channel prices.
