How to drive a group tour's pickup route in TourTask Crew
On a group tour's first day, TourTask Crew lists where to collect your groups' travellers, in the order to drive them, ending at the tour's first stop: their lodgings, or the pickup locations they chose. It shows when the tour picks up its travellers and your business lets your role see where they are collected.
Opening the pickup route
- 1
Open the job
In Calendar, open your job on the tour's first day.
- 2
Tap Pickup route
Tap Pickup route. It shows from 1 hour before the job, when Start tour opens too, or once you have started your tour. While no booking has a lodging or pickup location yet, it is greyed out, and tapping it says so. When your phone asks, allow location while using the app: the route starts from where you are.
What the route shows
A map of your stops, numbered in the order to drive them, with the tour's first stop as a green pin. Under the map:
- Remaining: the distance and time left to drive, and the pickup window.
- Next stop: who to collect there, every booking one under the other with its phone numbers, then the Later stops, shown the same way.
- Not on the map: bookings without a place on the map, and why. Ask your business where to collect them.
- Tour’s first stop: where the route ends.
Collecting the travellers
- At each stop, tap Picked up, or Skip for travellers who don't come. The stops left are then put in order again.
- When you reach the next stop, the app says You are at this stop.
- Marked the wrong stop? Tap Undo under Stops done.
- Your marks stay on your phone for the day, so you can leave the route and come back.
Opening the stops in Google Maps
When no driving route can be had, the app orders the stops by straight-line distance and says so. There are no turns to give then, so Navigate opens Google Maps with the stops left. Google Maps takes up to 10 stops at a time: come back and tap Navigate again for the rest, and mark each stop in TourTask Crew.
While you navigate, Open in Google Maps shows when turn-by-turn directions are not available.
The tour's first stop
The route ends at the tour's first stop: the first stop with a map pin in the tour's itinerary. When the tour has none, a guide or driver of the tour sets it once, for everyone:
- 1
Tap Set the first stop
The route shows Set the first stop while nobody has set it.
- 2
Find the place
Type it in Search for a place, or tap Use my current location and give the stop a name.
- 3
Save it
Tap Save. The route then shows who set it, and Change sets another.
Questions we get asked
Only a group tour that picks its travellers up has one, on its first day, when your groups have travellers and your business lets your role see where they are collected. A tour without pickup has none: the app says This job has no pickup route. A shore excursion has none either: its travellers come off a ship. Before the job, the button shows from 1 hour before it starts, or once you have started your tour.
The stops are listed in booking order, and Navigate waits for your location. Allow location on the route asks again, or Open settings once your phone no longer asks.
Not through the route: it uses your location only while its screen is open, to plan from where you are. Location sharing is separate.
