How to get more reviews for your tour company, the right way

Ask at the end of a good tour, once any problem is solved, and make reviewing take one tap.

Ask all season, not once

Recent reviews weigh most: GetYourGuide counts them more in a tour's rating (2026), and 74% of US consumers only consider the last three months' reviews (BrightLocal, 2026). So ask after every good tour.

Give a new listing a bump start

Write to recent past guests who booked directly with you, a few each day over two or three weeks, with no reward.

Ask at the end of the tour

  1. 1

    Solve any problem first

A guest with a problem needs your help, not a review link: see When things go wrong.

  2. 2

    Ask in person

The guide thanks everyone and says in one sentence why reviews help a small local business.

  3. 3

Give direct guests a card with QR codes

One code per site. Google gives you a review link and a QR code in your Business Profile.

  4. 4

Send your links the same day

By e-mail or WhatsApp, one link per site, with a few photos from the day.

  5. 5

    Thank every reviewer

By name, with one detail from their day: see Answer every review.

What the guide says at the end

Thank you all for today! We're a small local company, and reviews are how other travellers find us. If you booked directly with us, the card has our links. If you booked on a booking website, it will e-mail you soon. A few words about today would mean a lot.

Message after the tour, to direct guests

Thank you for joining [tour name] today! Here are our photos of the day: [link]

Keep the rules

Never

  • Reward a review with a discount, a gift, a drink or a prize draw. Give photos and thank-you gifts to everyone instead. Google, Tripadvisor and Viator ban any reward.
  • Post fake reviews, or let staff, friends or family review you.
  • Pressure guests, or make them review on the spot.
  • Swap reviews with other businesses.
  • Give guides review quotas, or ask guests to name their guide: Google bans both since April 2026. Base guides' bonuses on your own post-tour ratings.

Fakes get caught: Tripadvisor found 2.7 million in 2024 and penalises the businesses behind them.

Measure your review rate

Divide new reviews by completed bookings over the same 90 days. If the rate falls, look at how and when you ask.

In TourTask

With Send review-request emails on, TourTask e-mails your direct guests 3 hours after the tour unless you change it; bookings from online travel agencies get none. List your review sites under Configuration → Business profile. See Reviews.
