How to get customer reviews and show them on your website
TourTask e-mails each customer after their tour to ask how it went. Happy customers are invited to review you on your review sites too, while low ratings reach you privately first.
Ask for reviews
- 1
Open the settings
Go to Customer relations → Reviews and open the Settings tab.
- 2
Switch on review requests
Under Review requests, switch on Send review-request emails. Only tours that end from now on are asked.
- 3
Choose when they go out
Set Hours after tour ends: 3 unless you change it.
- 4
Add your own words (optional)
Edit subject gives the e-mail a subject of your own. Under Extra sections, Add section puts a thank-you or an offer below the rating button.
- 5
Check it
Click Preview email and enter a booking number.
Each change saves by itself. TourTask writes the rest of the e-mail, in the customer's language.
A booking whose Distribution channel is an online travel agency gets no request: its customer is the agency's.
What customers rate
The e-mail's button opens a short form. Only the Overall rating, one to five stars, is required. Under What customers can rate you can also ask for:
- A comment: Allow a written comment is on unless you switch it off.
- A star for each tour of the booking: Let customers rate each tour.
- Stars for Business aspects: Communication, Value for money, Safety and Booking experience.
- Stars for the guides, drivers and vehicles they had: Rateable roles. Each provider's rating then shows when you assign providers.
Happy and unhappy customers
Under Rating funnel, two settings decide what customers see after rating you.
| Overall rating | The customer sees | The review |
|---|---|---|
| At or above Offer external review links at (5 stars unless changed) | Your review sites, to review you there too | Is published at once |
| At or below Flag as a bad review at (4 stars unless changed) | An apology: your team will look into it | Waits for you, under Reviews to handle on your dashboard |
| In between | A thank-you | Waits for you |
Your review sites are those under Social media and review sites with Ask happy customers to review us here on, in the list's order: the list of Configuration → Business profile.
Email staff on new reviews: Every review, Low ratings only or Never, to your staff who can open Reviews.
Publish, hide or void reviews
The Reviews tab lists your reviews, newest first.
- Publish shows a waiting review on your website; Hide takes a review off it.
- Mark handled, on a low rating, takes it off your dashboard once you have contacted the customer.
- Void review deletes a rating given by mistake. With Ask the customer to leave a new review ticked, the customer gets a new request.
Show your reviews
- A TourTask website shows your published reviews by itself.
- Show ratings on public tour pages, under Public reputation, puts each tour's average rating on its card in the booking widget and on your website.
- On any other website, the reviews widget shows them:
- 1
Get the code
Go to Website integrations → Reviews and copy the HTML tab's Embed code in your page's language. On a WordPress site too, use this code.
- 2
Paste it into your reviews page
Publish the page.
- 3
Save the page's address
Enter it under Reviews page URL on your website, in its language. This registers your website, and review requests then open the rating form there.
- 4
Switch on the ratings
Switch on Show ratings on public tour pages: until then the widget shows nothing.
Questions we get asked
Not in TourTask. Contact the customer yourself: their details are on the booking.
No. Happy customers write them themselves, through the links offered, and TourTask doesn't read them back: you type each site's rating.
No: they confirm it before sending. If they meant another one, click Void review with Ask the customer to leave a new review ticked.
