How to accept bank transfers, Global66 and Wise

Some payment methods have no API to plug in. A bank transfer, a Global66 account, a Wise link, cash on arrival — the money is real, but nothing can tell TourTask automatically that it arrived.

A manual payment method handles exactly that. The traveller picks it on your booking page, sees your account details, pays from their own bank, and optionally uploads a receipt. The booking stays awaiting confirmation until you check your account and confirm. Nothing is ever marked paid on the traveller's word alone.

This is not a gateway

Card gateways confirm themselves in seconds. A manual method never does — you confirm it, by hand, after checking your account. If nobody reviews these, travellers who really paid sit unconfirmed. Decide who watches for them before you switch one on.

Step 1 — Turn a method on

Go to Configuration → Payment options and open the Offline payments section. Pick the method you want and open it.

  • Domestic bank transfer — a transfer inside your own country.
  • International bank transfer — a cross-border wire, using IBAN and SWIFT/BIC.
  • Global66 — for travellers paying into your Global66 account.
  • Wise — a Wise payment link.
  • Cash and cheque — handed over in person, nothing for the traveller to do online.
  • Credit card and debit card are in the same list, but they mean a card you charged on your own terminal, outside TourTask. They exist so you can record what you already took — not as a way for travellers to pay online.
  • Transfer is the original generic option, kept so older records stay readable. For a new setup pick the domestic or international bank transfer instead.

Step 2 — Fill in your account details

Every field you fill here is shown to the traveller, so treat it as public. Required fields are marked; the method will not go live until they all have a value.

Check the account number twice

TourTask cannot verify that the account exists. A wrong digit means travellers send money into a rejected transfer — or worse, someone else's account — and you find out days later. Copy the details from your bank, not from memory.

Use the note field

There is a free-text note shown under your details. It is the right place for anything specific to you: which reference to quote, that transfer fees are the sender's, or how long your bank takes to show an incoming payment.

Step 3 — Choose whether to ask for a receipt

Each method has a proof-of-payment setting:

  • Not asked — the traveller just declares they paid.
  • Optional — they can attach a screenshot or PDF.
  • Required — they cannot declare without attaching one.

Receipts are stored privately, visible only to your team inside TourTask. They are never published to a public address the way tour photos are.

A receipt is not proof

A screenshot shows an instruction was created, not that money settled — and it is trivial to fake. Always confirm against your own account, never against the attachment.

Step 4 — Show it on your booking page

Switch on Show on booking page, then drag the method into the order you want among your other payment options. The method also has to be Active, and if a required field is still empty the switch refuses and tells you which one — a half-filled set of bank details is worse than none.

Cash stays off unless you turn it on

Existing methods keep working exactly as before for recording payments yourself. None of them appear to travellers until you switch this on, one method at a time.

Step 5 — Confirm the money when it lands

When a traveller declares a payment, it appears on the booking as awaiting confirmation, with the amount, the date, the reference they say they quoted, and any receipt they attached.

  1. 1

    Check your account

Match the amount and the reference the traveller quoted. Take the money as arrived only when you can see it.

  2. 2

    Confirm

Open the booking and confirm the declared payment. TourTask records it as a real payment, updates the booking's balance and status, and emails the traveller.

  3. 3

    Or reject

If nothing arrived, reject it with a short reason. The traveller is told and can declare again — the booking's balance is untouched throughout.

A declared payment counts for nothing until you confirm

The balance, the booking status, and every report ignore it. That is deliberate: it means a traveller cannot move a booking to paid by filling in a form.

What travellers see

Your manual methods sit in the same list as your card gateways, in the order you set. Opening one shows your account details with a copy button on each line, the reference to quote, and a button to declare the payment once they have sent it.

After declaring, their booking page shows the amount and date they declared, and that it is awaiting your confirmation. It does not refresh by itself — nothing will resolve until you act.

Questions we get asked

Can Global66 or Wise confirm payments automatically?

No. Neither has a way to tell TourTask that a specific traveller paid a specific booking. Global66 does publish a business API, but it only sends money out and its incoming-money notification carries no reference we could match to a booking. That is precisely why these are manual methods.

Can I charge a surcharge on a manual method?

No. The fee fields on a payment option record what the method costs your business, for your own reporting — they do not add anything to what the traveller pays.

Can I take a deposit this way?

Yes. The traveller declares whatever they actually sent, and the booking moves to deposit-paid when you confirm it. They can declare the balance later.

Can I have two bank accounts on one method?

Not yet — one set of details per method. If you collect in two currencies, use the domestic and international methods separately.

Should this be my only payment method?

We would not recommend it. A transfer takes days and asks real effort of the traveller, so a card gateway alongside it converts considerably better. Manual methods are best as the option for travellers who cannot or will not pay by card.
